1The Problem

Attanayake Opticians was using a generic retail POS that had no understanding of optometry-specific workflows. Prescription data was recorded on paper cards. Lens inventory was tracked in a separate spreadsheet. Billing required manual cross-referencing between all three — a process prone to error and slow at the point of sale.

2What We Built

A fully custom POS built around optician workflows: patient records with prescription history, lens SKU management (including power, cylinder, and axis fields), an integrated billing engine that auto-populates from the prescription and lens selection, and a daily appointment and collection schedule. The system also generates prescription printouts directly from the POS.

3Results

Prescription records are now fully digital and searchable. Billing errors dropped to near zero. Average transaction time at the counter reduced as staff no longer cross-reference between systems. Patient records are retrievable in under five seconds.
